Participate in Student Vote’s “Democracy Bootcamp”
OSSTF/FEESO is a long-time supporter of Student Vote. Student Vote is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that aims to build the capacity and commitment of young Canadians to participate in their democracy.
On April 14th and 15th at the Sheraton Centre in downtown Toronto, Student Vote (famous for its election simulation program) is hosting Democracy Bootcamp.
Democracy Bootcamp is an opportunity for teachers from all across Ontario to gather, meet each other and share best practices of how to engage students in the democratic process. Teachers will meet and hear from Ontario’s political party leaders, political journalists, politicians and other special guests. Learning themes will focus on democracy, elections, election issues and the political process. Attendees will also leave with new ideas of how to facilitate a successful Student Vote campaign in their school.
Space has been reserved for 400 teachers. Student Vote is helping teachers attend by providing accommodation, food and beverages throughout the conference, and a travel reimbursement. There is a registration fee for the conference of $50.
Democracy Bootcamp begins at approximately 7:00 pm on the evening of Thursday, April 14th and finishes at the end of the day on the 15th.
